Missoula Early Learning & Our Mission

Our Mission

Missoula Early Learning Center’s philosophies are based on recommendations outlined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  We provide a stimulating play-based program for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschool-aged children.  We foster social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through the implementation of lessons based on the Montana Early Learning Standards.  We are committed to providing the highest quality care through respectful communication with families and engagement of families throughout our program.

Through our commitment to STARS to Quality, we will have access to the best trainings and coaches in Missoula, as well as significant funding through annual grants.

Our children are nurtured and nourished.  We participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program through the State of Montana.  We provide a healthy four-week rotational menu of whole and homemade foods, as well as homemade baby food and Enfamil formula, at no additional cost to families.

We are committed to serving our diverse community. Our facility serves families who qualify for Best Beginning Scholarships from the State of Montana. We are devoted to serve children with special needs and invite outside therapists to work in our facility with children who have special needs.  All children will be accepted at Missoula Early Learning Center and all children will be included in daily activities.  No child will be expelled from our program due to behavioral or educational needs.

Missoula Early Learning Center utilizes the Pyramid Model to create classroom environments that enable young children to develop their emotional and social skills. Children become self-reliant and independent.  We also utilize mindfulness techniques to teach children to stay calm and stress-free.  We teach problem-solving techniques to the children so that they can become divergent thinkers.

Children are instructed through center-based play, small group instruction, and brief whole-group lessons.  Children’s growth is consistently monitored and recorded in anecdotal records, work samples, and photographs.  We utilize an early childhood developmental checklist to assess children in primary caregiving groups.  We make recommendations for outside referrals and utilize a Leadership Team of specially trained teachers to create Behavior Support Plans or Learning Support Plans for children who need special attention.

Missoula Early Learning Center focuses on the whole-child and utilizes the most recent research in early childhood education to provide the best and highest quality childcare in Missoula.  We serve a broad range of children and families.  We provide extended resources from the community to our enrolled families.  We serve as experts in our field to our families and the community.  We will strive to become Missoula’s leading childcare facility, and a cornerstone of expert early childhood professionals in the community and the childcare industry at large.
